Darrell Henderson Jr. Leads Rams Backfield
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. took 13 carries for 47 yards and caught five passes for 26 yards in the Rams' 31-10 Thursday Night loss to the Buffalo Bills. Henderson was the lead back in the Rams offense by far. Cam Akers, who is listed as the No. 1 RB on the depth chart and who was being drafted about four rounds ahead of him, only got three carries and no targets in the passing game. While he was stopped for no gain a few times, the fourth-year Memphis product also busted out two 10+ yard runs. Overall, his yards per carry of 3.6 was higher than the team's ypc of 2.9. Should he maintain this level of volume, Henderson could be a top 24 RB in many of his matchups, including next week against the Falcons. Even if the backfield volume becomes more split, he should remain a quality flex option.
