2 years agoThe Baltimore Orioles claimed catcher Cam Gallagher off waivers from the San Diego Padres on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk. The six-year MLB veteran with the Kansas City Royals last played with the Padres farm system. He'll be Baltimore's third catcher on the 40-man roster behind rookie Adley Rutschmann and Robinson Chirinos. In a corresponding move, the Orioles designated right-hander Rico Garcia for assignment. Gallagher only appeared in 18 games for the Royals earlier this year before joining the Padres, and he went 9-for-42 (.214) with no home runs, five RBI and one run scored. In 16 games at Triple-A El Paso with the Padres, he went 14-for-55 (.255) with a homer, 10 RBI and nine runs scored.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
