Daily Fantasy Baseball Update 4/30: Giancarlo's Hammy Worrisome?

Giancarlo Stanton 2011Miami Marlins Giancarlo Stanton finally begins to find his offensive groove and BAM, a swinging bunt leads to a blown hammy. The Marlins and Mets took a wild tie game into the 15th, but with one out in the 10th, Stanton hit a slow chopper in front of home plate and pulled up lame a few strides from first before going down in a sliding heap of pain. It doesn't look good as hamstring pulls or strains can linger for a while. We will keep you updated as we get more information. Stanton had 3 HR in his previous two games before an 0-for-5 performance and tonight’s early exit.

Update: Stanton placed on DL and No. 6 Prospect OF Marcell Ozuna called up from AA. Ozuna has been on a tear in the Southern League. Between April 22 and 28, Ozuna compiled a .367 average (11-30), adding 6 runs, 5 homers and 11 RBI in 7 games for the Suns.

Stephen Strasburg MLB debutWashington Nationals prized hurler Stephen Strasburg took a no decision tonight against the free-swinging Braves. Strasburg gave up 2 ER, 6 Hits and 4 BB while striking out 8. The Nats’ phenom now is sporting a “non-Strasburgean” 3.13 ERA and a 1-4 record on the year. But it was neither the decision nor stats that have the twitter feeds and beat writers scurrying-- rather, it was the post-game report from Skipper Davey Johnson that Stras’ is dealing with some forearm tightness after his start that created the most buzz. Strasburg has stated he does not intend to miss a start, but forearm tightness for a pitcher with a Tommy John surgery already under his belt is never a welcome thought. More news will be coming on this in the next few hours I am sure.
