Collin McHugh (SP, HOU) - Waiver Wire Analysis

BALLER MOVE: Continue Scout; Strictly a Streamer

ANALYSIS: Collin McHugh surprised the fantasy world with a fantastic first two starts for the Astros this year. McHugh racked up 19 strikeouts with just three walks in 15.1 innings with just one run allowed in that span.  To fairly project McHugh we have to look at the larger body of work. McHugh has never been a top prospect and while he had good numbers in the minors they were not spectacular. That tells me that he will more than likely be nothing beyond an average pitcher. In his most recent start McHugh faced the recently awakened Mariners offense, giving up 5 ER on 8 hits in 4.1 IP with a 4:1 K:BB ratio. As teams see more of McHugh those numbers will be closer to what he really is. At best he is a stream option against bad teams. He might not even be worth using then as the Astros anemic offense will give him very little chance of securing the W.
