Daily Fantasy Leagues - FanDuel Lineup Picks (5/12)
P: Dan Haren ($8,000): When picking pitchers, I try to find a pitcher that is the best bet to get the win. That certainly has to be Haren tonight as he matches up against the Marlins who are an awful 3-13 on the road this season. He has also been a solid strikeout pitcher on the year with 36 punch outs in 43.2 innings pitched. The Marlins struggled to score runs against the Padres last week, look for that to continue tonight.
C: Yadier Molina ($3,100): Due to his recent struggles (.191 average and 1 home run over the last two weeks), Molina’s price has fallen dramatically. Today he faces off against the lefty Wood for Chicago who owns a 4.75 ERA on the season. I like Molina to get back on track today.
1B: Chris Davis ($3,800): HE’S BACK! After being on the disabled list for the last few weeks, Davis made his return yesterday and promptly went 2-4. Today he gets a great matchup against Rick Porcello who has a respectable 3.49 ERA, but is right-handed, which favors Davis.
I would normally worry about Davis’s rhythm, but he looked good yesterday, so there should be no hesitation to use him at a deflated price.
2B: Anthony Rendon ($3,300): Rendon is one of my favorite DFS 2B as he is one of the main run producers in the Nationals lineup. On the year, he has 5 home runs, 23 RBI and 22 runs, putting him near the top of all 2B in each category. His opponent tonight (Josh Collmenter) has been up and down all year and is coming off of a good start but isn’t a high-strikeout guy; Collmenter is prone to the bad outing, so get Rendon active.
SS: Jhonny Peralta ($3,400): Another player I seem to roster a lot is Peralta. He always comes in far below the top level of shortstops in terms of price, but recently has been outproducing all of them not named Tulowitzki. Over the past two weeks, Peralta is hitting .346 with 4 home runs, 8 RBI and 7 runs. Like Molina, I also love the matchup for Peralta with Travis Wood of the Cubs. A mini Cardinals stack tonight is certainly in play.
3B: Brett Lawrie ($3,200): After missing the last six games with a hamstring injury, it sounds like Lawrie will return to the lineup tonight. That means he should be underowned tonight in a solid matchup against a left-handed pitcher. Lawrie also had been playing some solid ball before the injury, with 14 hits in his last 32 at bats. This looks like a good play fro Monday action.
OF: Jacoby Ellsbury ($3,800): Ellsbury should be a top play tonight as he faces off against Bartolo Colon who has given up 17 hits and 10 earned runs in his last two outings. Ellsbury has been everything the Yankees have hoped for this year with 14 extra-base hits already on the season. He is 4-12 lifetime against Colon, so everything adds up to a solid showing for the Yankees outfielder tonight.
