Alcides Escobar (SS, KC) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues or Shallow Leagues for SB

ANALYSIS: Alcides Escobar was a pretty promising fantasy SS going into the 2013 season. He had recorded career highs in just about every category in 2012 (he fell one run short of all categories), but in 2013 he took a step back in every way and posted a terrible .259 OBP. So far in 2014 it looks like we are getting the ‘12 version of Escobar. Best of all it looks sustainable. Guys with great speed tend to have better BABIPs so while Escobar’s .319 is above his career average it is within his expected range. So an average of .280-.290 is more than fair. He already has 11 steals, and I would put 30 as the bare minimum with a very good shot at 40+. He is currently hitting in the bottom third of the order which limits his runs, putting a ceiling on his value. At the top of the order he could be a 100 run player. Right now his current pace puts him around 70. For a guy you can potentially pick off the waiver wire, .285, 70+ R and 30+ SB is great value in all leagues.
