BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues
ANALYSIS: Grant Balfour is out as the closer in TB, for now. He says his fastball has been improving, and if that's the case we will not be surprised to see Balfour reclaim the closer gig in a matter of weeks. Joe Maddon is intensely loyal to his players - could ya tell by the long leash Balfour was given? Unfortunately, Balfour just used the leash to hang himself. He was awful, walking almost as many hitters as he struck out. Enter Jake McGee and Leo Nunez, errrr Juan Carlos Oviedo. McGee is a dominant left hander with an elite K-rate and microscopic WHIP. Oviedo has also been filthy this year, with an solid K-rate as well. We wouldn't put it past Maddon to implement a true committe here, using Nunez if there are a couple lefties up and Oviedo if there are a couple righties up. What that means for you is that if you play in a shallow league you should leave both these guys for the waiver wire, for now. Watch the matchups carefully, and if you see McGee close out a game with a couple righties coming up in the 9th, you should snatch him up immediately!
