BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues (that value saves)
ANALYSIS: With the news that Ronald Belisario was officially removed from the closer's role, Zach Putnam becomes the most recent addition to our list of saves sleepers to target off the waiver wire. While it hasn't been officially stated that Putnam is the new team closer, he looks like the favorite and is our pick for the job. He's been pitching well all season, racking up a 2.20 ERA and 1.07 WHIP to go along with 27 K in 32 2/3 IP. The 12 BB are a little high, but he's been keeping them down recently which is a good sign. He also picked up the save on Saturday, and grabbed a win yesterday pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings with 2 Ks. He clearly has the trust of his manager, given that he was the only relieve to come in yesterday in a close game with the Angels. Putnam is still only owned in 7% of Yahoo leagues, so if you're looking to add a potential closer and beef up your chances for saves, grab him now before it may be too late.
