BALLER MOVE: Add in 12 Team Leagues; Scout in Shallow Leagues
ANALYSIS: Wily Peralta is someone I've heard about from the fantasy community on and off all year, and with good reason. He has had many starts where he has given up 3 runs or less, but he also had a run of starts where he gave up more 4 runs or more 3 games in a row. All of this has led to a season line of a 3.58 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 6.73 K/9, which is pretty average. However, right after Peralta gave up 4 runs, 4 runs, and 9 runs - he followed that up by giving up a total of 1 run in his past two starts combined. In his past two starts he has a 0.64 ERA, 0.57 WHIP, and 6.43 K/9. While the Cardinals are not the offensive force they were once, his most recent start came against one of the better lineups in the National League in the Cincinnati Reds.
Peralta is worth a look for the back end of your rotation as long as this streak continues, especially when you stop to consider his consistency throughout the year. Yes, he has had a few bad games here or there but 15 of his 20 starts have resulted in 3 runs or less given up. That's very useful for someone that you don't need to be your ace. Not to mention that the next time out, Wily E. (not his actual middle name but props if you get the joke) Peralta gets the light hitting Mets. Make the add as needed managers.
