Fantasy Football Stock Up / Down: Training Camp News and Notes (8/1)

NFL Training Camps are in full swing which means savvy fantasy football owners are keeping a close eye on what's happening. There is a ton of interesting news to digest, and RotoBaller has a handle on all the big stories and developments that relate to fantasy football. We'll be bringing you training camp analysis all throughout fantasy football draft season and we will help you determine which players' stock is up or down in preparation for your drafts.

NFL Training Camp: Stock Up

RB Devonta Freeman, ATL

Wikipedia User:Foe6wy - Own workSteven Jackson's injury opens up a lot of running room on the Falcons. Devonta Freeman was a bruising back in college but he never really had the opportunity to be a full time starter. Jackson's been going downhill for years now and his injuries are just piling up, giving Freeman a better shot at starting than the way less talented Jacquizz Rodgers.

His stock was already soaring as all training camp reports pointed at Freeman having a very good and impressive camp. I picked Freeman as one of my sleepers, and think if he starts all year he'll be a mid RB2. If you draft soon, you have to get him while his price is still cheap.

RB Fred Jackson, BUF

Usually 33 year old running backs have little to no value but Fred Jackson keeps coming back, year after year. Jackson, who only has 1100 career carries (for comparison, that's 7 more than Arian Foster's career, 300 less than Ray Rice's career, and 600 less than Chris Johnson's.) was just signed to a contract extension and is coming in as the #2 back behind CJ Spiller, who's on his final year. No one really knows why the Bills don't like CJ Spiller so much, but they've really leaned more towards Fred Jackson with many different opportunities. Spiller is a risky pick with very high upside, but Jackson is a consistent guy who actually has a lot of upside himself in deep leagues.

NFL Training Camp: Stock Down

RB David Wilson, NYG

Last week i had Wilson my stock up list. Then, he suffered an injury in practice and now it looks like he might not be coming back to the field. Wilson's stock is permanently down until he's able to handle contact without injury.

QB Matt Schaub, OAK

Schaub has been having a horrible training camp with the Raiders according to reports. It's hard to believe Schaub could fall so far in just one season but on the July 31st Training Camp Schaub saw himself throw 3 picks in 30 minutes of practice, two of them back to back. Schaub's career could really be coming to an end, which is surprising considering he's top 10 all time for regular season QB Rating.

NFL Training Camp Notes

TE Tyler Eifert, CIN

Although I don't think Eifert's stock has changed much, he's been finding himself used a lot more often in Camp, especially on seam routes. This could be a precursor of things to come.
