What's up RotoBallers. Hope your fantasy baseball teams are doing well, and for those that play daily league games I hope you are winning those DFS games too.
Below are some of my favorite FanDuel lineup picks for today's game, based on the player matchups and FanDuel pricing. I like to use our handy BvP (batter vs. pitcher) tool to analyze the hitter matchups and historical data against the pitchers they are facing - I strongly recommend it. Remember, these picks are posted early in the day for your convenience, and without knowledge of the teams’ starting lineups. Always be sure to check starting lineups before finalizing your FanDuel entries.
Editor’s Note: be sure to check out RotoBaller’s BvP (batter vs. pitcher) analysis tool, which shows you all the daily matchup stats for every single hitter in the MLB.
Daily Fantasy DFS Picks - Tuesday, September 9th
P: Jon Lester ($9,700): Lester has been the model of consistency, with nine straight starts with 8.0 or more fantasy points, while being over 10 points in seven of those outings. He also has 5+ strikeouts in six straight contests. Tonight he faces the White Sox, who are in the top five in strikeouts this year, so Lester’s strikeout streak should easily continue tonight. With a season ERA of 2.53, Lester should be sent out with no concerns tonight.
C: Salvador Perez ($2,800): Yes, Perez is 0-for-12 over his last three games, however he is still hitting a solid .267 on the year with 16 home runs and 63 RBI. He should be a good contrarian play against Scherzer tonight.
1B: Adam LaRoche ($3,900): LaRoche has been rolling of late, including a monster two-home run game on Sunday. He followed that up with another two-hit game last night against Atlanta. Ervin Santana has certainly been good this year, but has also struggled some with lefties so LaRoche could be in line for another multi-hit game tonight.
2B: Jose Altuve ($4,300): It’s hard to argue against picking the AL batting leader this season. The diminutive Astro has been white hot with hits in 14 straight games heading into last night, boosting his average to .340. He is also a base-stealing and run-scoring machine, which should be big trouble tonight for the left-handed Elias. Expect another multi-hit game and maybe a few stolen bases.
SS: Erick Aybar ($2,800): Shortstop is another place I will look to save money tonight, as no one jumps off the page. Aybar continues to hit in the middle of a good Angels lineup, managing a .284 average with 37 extra-base hits on the season. Los Angeles faces Colby Lewis and his abysmal 5.42 ERA tonight, so they are certainly in play for a stack tonight.
3B: Kyle Seager ($3,400): Seager has had a great season, thanks in large part to a hot streak that has seen him hit .327 with four home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs over the last two weeks. He has crushed right-handed pitching, which he will see tonight in Collin McHugh. Third base is about as weak as shortstop tonight, meaning Seager might be one of the only great options.
OF: Mike Trout ($5,100): Sometimes you need to avoid overthinking things and take the likely AL MVP who is having his best season yet for the Angels. As I mentioned with Aybar, the Halos get Colby Lewis tonight, which makes for a great stack option. If you take a few of the savings options listed, above you should more than enough room to get Trout into your lineup.
