BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
Owned in 29% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Given the injury to Jamaal Charles on Sunday, and the news earlier today that it's a dreaded high-ankle sprain, Knile Davis immediately emerges into some serious fantasy football relevance with the opportunity to become a fantasy star over the next few weeks. If it was just Sunday's game that Charles missed, then Davis would probably still appear on our waiver wire sleepers list, as he's still pretty much the most valuable handcuff in fantasy football, but I wouldn't recommend to add him in all leagues. High-ankle sprains are almost always multi-week injuries though, even though this one is being considered a more mild one.
After being thrust into the lead running back role for the Chiefs on Sunday, Davis performed like a true RB1 and put up numbers similar to what we've come to expect from Charles throughout his career (when healthy). The Chiefs offensive attack is based around the running back position, both with the ground game and also with the passing game out of the backfield. Yesterday was no different, and Davis excelled when given a full workload. He had 22 rush attempts racking up 79 yards and two touchdowns. He also added in six catches on nine targets, for 26 yards, all accumulating to a studly 28.5 points in PPR leagues.
All Jamaal Charles owners will need to bid on Davis off the waiver wire (or use their waiver priority) to prepare for Week 3 and the next few weeks as well. But I wouldn't say that Davis is a must-have for every fantasy football team. Some fantasy owners were lucky enough to get out of Week 2 with healthy running backs and no injuries. And chances are that Charles will be back in a few weeks (it's not like this is a season-ending injury), so it's a matter of how much you're willing to give up for a potential few-week rental. Davis should offer rock-solid RB2 value, with RB1 upside (especially in PPR leagues) for as long as Charles is out. So if you are looking to improve your team over the next few weeks, or need some more help at the running back position, then be sure to bid on Davis off the Week 3 waiver wire.
