BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues
Owned in 35% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: When catching footballs in New England, it is easy to get lost in the shuffle. Rob Gronkowski is obviously the #1 target for Tom Brady. Julian Edelman stepped up last season as the main Wide Receiver for Brady. Danny Amendola, when healthy, is the other starting WR. That leaves Aaron Dobson, Kenbrell Thompkins and Brandon LaFell as the young guys who are left to fight for targets from Brady.
Dobson was a healthy scratch Week 1 after missing the preseason with a foot injury. Week 2, he only had 1 catch for 13 yards. Not too promising, but nobody except Gronkowski and Edelman have been fantasy relevant for the Patriots receiving core. One reason for this is the Running Backs (Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen and Brandon Bolden)taking a large chunk of plays leading to only 22 pass attempts in Week 2. The reason I like Dobson, owned in only 35% of FleaFlicker leagues, is because of his upside. He is the best X receiver for New England, meaning he will be on the field for more plays. Plus, he has downfield ability, which is a major plus.
His biggest fantasy downfall is like most of the Patriots: his role for the season is undetermined. I will definitely take a chance on him, but keeping him on the bench until his role is defined is the smart play in most leagues.
