Cecil Shorts (WR, JAX) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12 teams or deeper

56% Owned on Fleaflicker

ANALYSIS: Apparently beginning the season with a hamstring injury is a good way to get yourself forgotten. These days all everyone does is talk of Allen Robinson or Marqise Lee. But let's not so quickly forget that Cecil Shorts has been the most consistent producer for the Jaguars the past few seasons. In fact, he's only two seasons removed from a 979 yard season with 7 touchdowns and last season in 13 games he gained 777 yards and 3 touchdowns. Just to remind us that he's still the same old garbage time magician, he scored a garbage time TD in his first appearance this season with Blake Bortles at the helm.

Why is this significant? Because the era of Henne Given Sunday has ended in Jacksonville and the era of Raise Your Bortles has begun. There are a lot of questions as to whom Bortles favorite receiver will be, but why not Shorts? Shorts will be in Jacksonville for a while so it would behoove Bortles to build a good chemistry with him. The Jaguars o-line is junk, but don't worry, Cecil Shorts will be a garbage time all-star all season anyway. Go get him while you can.
