Week 10 Waiver Wire for Fantasy Football

By Erik Daniel Drost (Flickr) [CC-BY-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0)], via Wikimedia CommonsAnother week of byes, so you probably need a waiver wire fill in or two, as do your competitors. Consequently, you should consider very carefully where you want to invest this week's claims. That decision is ultimately yours, but I'm here to help you out with reviews of all the top fantasy football waiver wire adds going into Week 10 of the NFL season.

Just a friendly reminder that in my weekly waiver wire pickups overview column, I only highlight players owned in fewer than 50% of leagues on Fleaflicker. There very well may be other options out there, so be sure to read all of RotoBaller's Week 10 waiver wire analysis. And of course, you can always stop by the RotoBaller chat rooms for any live advice you may need.

For now, check out my waiver wire thoughts below for Week 10, but be sure to come back to see my rankings when they're posted right here on RotoBaller later on in the week!

Quarterback Waiver Wire Pickup Options

1. Mark Sanchez vs Panthers - 21% Owned on Fleaflicker

I can't lie, I'm kind of excited to see what Sanchez can do with a decent offense around him. Sanchez made a few mistakes after coming off the bench in Week 9, but that's fair given he hasn't played in a game since 2012. With a full week to prepare as starter and a nice matchup against the Panthers there is some real potential with Sanchez this week. Looking beyond this week, Sanchez has several good matchups down the road and only one really bad matchup (Vs Seattle in Week 14). Sanchez is a solid bye-week fill in this week and if things go well he merits some consideration as a weekly fantasy stream.

2. Derek Carr vs Broncos - 16% Owned on Fleaflicker

Carr isn't exactly an appealing option, but he just held his own against the Seahawks and the Broncos are one of the best matchups for opposing QBs. He'll be expected to throw a ton. Denver has decent CBs, so I wouldn't be eager to start him, but among quarterbacks owned in fewer than 50% of leagues, Carr might be your best option.

3. Blake Bortles vs Cowboys - 17% Owned on Fleaflicker

While the Cowboys are not a great matchup, they've struggled lately. The Dallas defensive unit allowed 22 points to Eli Manning, 16 to Colt McCoy and then 19 to Carson Palmer this past week. If McCoy can get to 15+, Bortles should be able to, as well. That's not to say he will, but with garbage time likely, this Garbage Time Hero will have his chance to shine.

Running Back Waiver Wire Pickup Options

1. Tre Mason @ Cardinals - 46% Owned on Fleaflicker

Is he or isn't he lead back? That is the big question. It seemed really obvious following Week 7, but things got murky after week 8. Well, Mason was back with the lion's share of RB touches in his Week 9 matchup. The final count was 20 for Mason, seven for Cunningham... and another big zero for Stacy. I'm still having trouble trusting Jeff Fisher, but in a week without much depth for good RB adds, Mason is the one guy you want to own.

2. Charles Sims vs Falcons - 22% Owned on Fleaflicker

Along with many others, I talked him up this past week. He was inactive for Week 9, but that's fine. He will almost definitely be active against the Falcons, and it's a great matchup. I can definitely see him catching five passes, so take note if you are in a PPR league.

3. Terrance West @ Bengals - 42% Owned on Fleaflicker

This is another confusing situation. Ben Tate appeared to be the uncontested lead back, but following a few tough games, a report came in Sunday morning that suggested West would earn the most touches in their Week 9 matchup. It was close, but the report was correct, as West had 15 touches to Tate's 14, with Isaiah Crowell at zero. Can you trust this situation at all? No. But with another heavy bye week, you may have to gamble on West and hope the trend continues.

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Pickup Options

1. Martavis Bryant @ Jets - 33% Owned on Fleaflicker

Ben Roethlisberger is the hottest QB in the game right now. The Steelers face a Jets defense that has allowed 24 pass touchdowns against just one interception. That means Martavis Bryant should keep on rolling. The rookie looks great and there is no reason to expect he'll slow down against the truly awful Jets.

2. Justin Hunter @ Ravens - 35% Owned on Fleaflicker

This one is more of a gut call. I like that the Titans are coming off bye, giving Zach Mettenberger extra time to work with his receivers. We just saw Big Ben rip apart the Ravens defense, so we know they can be vulnerable. A big part of Hunter's value hinges on whether Jimmy Smith plays, but the smart money says that Smith will be out again. With him out of the way, it's clear this Baltimore secondary can be beat. Hunter was targeted 10 times by Mettenberger in his debut. If that continues, it will mean big things in Week 10.

3. Davante Adams vs Bears - 15% Owned on Fleaflicker

In Green Bay's passing attack, there is plenty of room for three relevant WRs. Over Adams's past four games, he has delivered either 70+ yards or a touchdown every time out. That's a pretty valuable player, and the matchup against the Bears shouldn't scare anyone. As the #3 option, he is prone to some bad games, but he should be a solid streaming option as needed.

Tight End Waiver Wire Pickup Options

1. Owen Daniels vs Titans - 40% Owned on Fleaflicker

It's a rough week for TE waiver adds, but Daniels should be an acceptable play. After missing a week with knee issues, he looked fine against the Steelers, catching six passes for 53 yards. In a game where the Ravens won't be throwing as much, you might have to hope for a touchdown, but Daniels looks like the best bet for Week 10.

2. Clay Harbor vs Cowboys - 10% Owned on Fleaflicker

I feel like Harbor is a regular on this weekly overview. That speaks more to the lack of depth on the TE waiver wire than it does to Harbor's skills. Still, the fact remains that the Cowboys are pretty bad against tight ends, and they allowed a touchdown to the lowly John Carlson in Week 9. There will certainly be opportunities for Harbor to do the same.

3. Jace Amaro vs Steelers - 20% Owned on Fleaflicker

I wouldn't want to start Amaro, but if you're really desperate, he's an option. He received ZERO targets this past week, but the Steelers are below average in defending opposing TEs, giving some measure of weight to the notion that Amaro could deliver in Week 10. It certainly seems like he'll be taking a hit in value without Geno, but I can't believe he'll be at zero targets for two straight weeks.
