Top DFS Picks (Worth the Investment)
Jrue Holiday (NOP, PG) - $7,300
As you have certainly heard before in fantasy NBA, play whoever is up against the Lakers each night. Wednesday night, that turn goes to New Orleans.
Holiday has found his groove of late with over 28 fantasy points in four of his last five games. He has done it by scoring double figures and dishing out at least five assists in each contest over that stretch.
Holiday faces off with Jeremy Lin this evening, who is one of the worst defenders in the league as evidenced on Tuesday when he let the Grizzlies' Mike Conley go for 23 points. Start any Pelicans with confidence.
Carmelo Anthony (NYK, PF) - $8,900
Yes, Anthony Davis is the top play today, but that is about as chalk as it gets. A nice contrarian play will be the Knicks' star, who has a fairly deflated price for his level of talent.
The team is clearly struggling with Coach Derek Fisher's triangle offense, but Anthony has picked his game up with two straight solid efforts, combining 45 points and 18 boards. Anthony has also increased his assists thus far, averaging 4.4 per game over the first couple of weeks of the season.
Tonight, Melo faces a Magic team that is fairly weak defensively and has almost no shot-blocking ability, so he should be able to reach value fairly easily.
Nikola Vucevic (ORL, C) - $8,600
Vucevic has cemented his place as a top fantasy center. The 24 year old from Switzerland has grabbed at least eight rebounds in 7-of-8 games this season while also scoring 14 or more points every time out. To add on to that, he has bumped his assists to 2.9 per game to go along with 1.4 blocks and 1.1 steals.
Vucevic is averaging nearly 39 fantasy points contest and should be able to surpass that total against a weak frontline in New York.
Best DFS Values (Sleepers)
Omer Asik (NOP, C) - $5,400
As mentioned above with Holiday, get as many Pelicans on your roster as you can tonight. That continues here with Asik, New Orleans' new center, who has fit very well into his role so far this season.
Asik will never be a huge scorer, as he has scored in double figures just three times this year. However, the Turkish big man has pulled down at least seven rebounds in every game to this point while also averaging 1.3 blocks. Asik should simply overwhelm the Lakers in the paint tonight and is likely to put up a big double-double.
Dennis Schroder (ATL, PG) - $3,900
A true value play tonight, Schroder has shown over the last three games exactly why he was a first-round pick just last year. The young point guard has scored in double figures each night to go along with a combined 8 steals.
The other bit of good news is that Schroder's minutes have increased in each game of this stretch from 14 to 20 and finally up to 28 on Monday. He is certainly a boom-or-bust candidate, but for the price tag, Schroder offers very little downside.
