Keep in mind, fantasy basketball is a fickle game when it comes to injured players, so be sure to check all lineups prior to tip-off. If you want to chat about your roster picks, check out the DFS chat room at the bottom of this post.

Worth the Investment

Russell Westbrook (OKC, G) - $9000

You knew this was coming, right?  The Lakers allow the most points to opposing point guards and Westbrook has been playing like a man possessed.  He has pretty much put the rest of the league officially on notice.  The fact that the Thunder will be playing on a second straight night kind of helps the Westbrook selection.  It is very possible the Thunder come out a little fatigued thus keeping the Lakers in the game for a while and delaying/postponing the blowout potential.  Due to the injuries and absences of Westbrook and Kevin Durant to start the season, OKC is basically in playoff mode already and cannot afford too many losses.  These factors should ensure plenty of minutes for a determined Westbrook.

Of course, the Lakers have been really awful, so it is completely possible this game is over mid-way through the third quarter.

DeAndre Jordan (LAC, C) - $6300

It is like night and day when comparing Jordan’s early season to how he’s been playing of late.  He has been nothing short of a monster since the calendar hit December, as he is averaging 10.89 points, 2.78 blocks and a jaw-dropping 15.67 rebounds per game over LA’s last 11 games.  Word out of Hollywood is that the producers of TLC are attempting to contact Jordan to set up a one hour special with the Clipper center entitled, “My Strange Addiction: Glass Eater.”

Until his reality television series unfolds, Jordan will have to be content with dominating the Nuggets who have allowed 55+ FSPPG to centers over their last five.  Let the glass eating continue Friday night.

Thaddeus Young (MIN, F) - $4900

Surprisingly, the (Y)(y)oung forward has had some of his best performances against higher end defensive teams like Washington, San Antonio and Portland.  Young and the Timberwolves won’t exactly have the toughest defensive unit to face when they visit Boston.  The Celtics have consistently given up the most FSP to the power forward position this season and there’s no reason to think Young can’t get his. Look for stellar value production from the Minnesota big man.

Top Sleepers

Phil Pressey (BOS, G) - $2200

Rajon Rondo is gone and Marcus Smart has been dealing with a heel injury, so it’s probable that "Flip" Pressey gets the majority of minutes Friday night against Minnesota.  The 23-year-old guard will not necessarily be lighting up the scoreboard but considering the Timberwolves’ horrific guard defense, he could hit the 25+ FSP plateau.  With a minimum cap value, playing Pressey allows for more stars in the lineup while minimizing the hit or miss risk.

Rasual Butler (WAS, F) - $2200

Wizards’ starter Paul Pierce is dealing with a toe injury and is listed as questionable.  This means that Butler and Otto Porter will be seeing more time at the swing position.  Even if Porter gets the start, Butler should see more minutes as he has produced more on the offensive side of the ball.  Butler should see plenty of scoring opportunities playing with the real life Santa Claus, John Wall, who has been passing out free gifts to his teammates at an alarming rate- 13.1 assists per game over their last nine.
