BALLER MOVE: Target as High-End 1B2
ANALYSIS: All this talk about Prince Fielder's declining career must stop. If you look closely at 2014, you will see that he posted a .333/.421/.458 triple slash line in 48 AB in May before a neck injury cut his season way short. So in April, and one game in March, he struggled, managing just .206/.331/.314 during that span. Are we really counting out a perennial superstar for one bad month and a neck surgery? During his two years in Detroit, Prince enjoyed the two highest line drive percentages of his career. His isolated power and on base average dropped a bit, but his BABIP was as high as it had been, and he was striking out less. The jet stream in Arlington might not have the same impact it did a few years back, but that shouldn't translate to poorer power numbers in Texas. One off year in which he missed 120 games should not dictate the entire future of a still-30-year-old who has smacked 25 or more home runs in each of his eight full seasons in baseball. Last year's performance may cause the five-time all-star's stock to drop significantly in 2015, so try to take advantage of this opportunity. I have him ranked as the 14th best 1B in 2015 and expect to get a big discount in my drafts.
