ANALYSIS: The rocky relationship between Spencer Hawes and the Los Angeles Clippers is about to be thrown into the fire. Following the news that Blake Griffin would need surgery to clean up a staph infection, Doc Rivers and management came to the realization that Hawes (undoubtedly the source of numerous migraines in the front office) would be playing a huge part in replacing what Griffin does. Which is a lot. Doc gave him 35 minutes on Sunday against the Thunder and Hawes responded with 17 points (2-5 from three) on 16 total shots (albeit in a blowout). More importantly, Glen Davis' back went out on a box out by Nick Collison and he looked to be in considerable pain. He may be out for a bit too. Hard schedule to close out the first half of the season, but trust that on some nights half of the double digit shots he'll put up will go in (and many of them will be threes). Throw in the 7'1"-ness and his ability to block shots and Hawes has some real fantasy relevance so long as other Clipper big men are hurt (and Blake's looking at at least four weeks of recovery).
