Worth the FanDuel Investment

LaMarcus Aldridge (POR, F) - $9,000

After getting an extra day of rest on Monday, LaMarcus Aldridge gets one of the easiest matchups possible in his return against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Aldridge has been a scoring machine despite his thumb issues this season, and he has added some quality rebounding to those points as well. This one is a no-brainer for me: A great matchup for a proven player on four days of rest. The only thing that could ruin this pick is an early blowout.

DeMar DeRozan (TOR, G) - $8,000

DeMar DeRozan has been an offensive freak since the injury to point guard Kyle Lowry. Reports on Tuesday are suggesting that Lowry will sit out yet again on Wednesday, so I see no reason to stop riding the DeRozan train just yet. At a reasonable price, I will gladly take 40 minutes from a guy who flirts with triple-doubles on a regular basis. Keep an eye on Lowry’s status Wednesday night, and confidently put DeRozan in your lineup if the point guard remains sidelined.

Safer DFS Bargains

These NBA players are on the cheaper side, but you can expect some solid DFS production from them with the potential for star-like numbers.

Deron Williams (BKN, G) - $6,900

I don’t know why Williams’ price is still below $7,000, but I love the way he’s playing as of late. His connection with Brook Lopez almost guarantees him eight to 10 assists each night, and his sharp shooting gives him huge scoring upside. Williams scored 45 FDP in three of the last four games. Although the Atlanta Hawks held him to 20 FDP just four days ago, I expect Williams to log enough minutes to put up big numbers on Wednesday. No Paul Millsap at power forward will help Williams’ production as well.

Bradley Beal (WAS, G) - $5,900

Do I dare call Bradley Beal safe? As a Wizards fan I have come to find that Beal is certainly not the safest player in the world, but the guard can also shoot the lights out on any given night. Playing against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, I expect Beal to repeat his performance one week ago when he scored 35.5 points against the same team. A slash line of 20/5/5 seems very reasonable for an explosive player who is finally back to his 35-40 minutes leash.

Jonas Valanciunas (TOR, C) - $6,900

Jonas Valanciunas has been on a mini-tear lately. In a favorable matchup Wednesday against a beat-up Charlotte front court, I expect him to keep up the solid production. Keep an eye on the status of Cody Zeller and Al Jefferson, but either way I see the argument in using Valanciunas on Wednesday night.

High Risk, High Reward

These inexpensive DFS picks are more trained for the tournament players. If you need to stand out from a crowd, these guys have the potential to hit 30 FDP. On the other hand, don’t be surprised if they come up well short of that mark.

Ish Smith (PHI, G) - $6,400

I debated switching Ish Smith with Beal mentioned above. Smith is about as safe as a risky play gets (just as Beal is as risky as a safe play gets). However, the Wizards defense has the tendency to kill fantasy value, and Smith is not immune to a cold shooting night. With that being said, the point guard has full reigns of the offense and a great rapport with Nerlens Noel. You have to be pretty sure to fly with a guy at this price, and I’m just sure enough to put Smith in my lineup Wednesday night.

Brandan Wright (PHO, C) - $4,900

When a player who gets a solid 30 minutes is priced this low, the potential reward heavily outweighs the risk. Brandan Wright finds himself matched up with Tyson Chandler and the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night. Although the matchup seems grueling at first glance, the Mavs have been exploited by big men all year long. With Alex Len still out, Wright will get the chance to make it three straight 30-FDP games after scoring 32.4 and 35.4 in his last two. If you don’t like any of the top options at center Wednesday night, Wright is a very serviceable option.

Avoid At All Costs

If it were up to me, these players would have a 0% usage.

The San Antonio Spurs

On the second night of a back-to-back, the San Antonio Spurs are a no-go for me. There are some stellar players on this team, and it kills me to know that Kawhi Leonard is staring me in the face at a reasonable price, but Greg Popovich is a mean, mean man when it comes to DFS. I understand that these games have playoff atmospheres and standings implications against the Thunder and the Rockets Tuesday and Wednesday, but at this point in the season no one really knows what Popovich is going to do with his star players. Most starters haven’t reached 30 minutes in over a week. That makes it tough to be reliable. It may bite me in the butt, but I’m staying away from the Spurs on Wednesday.
