Jean Segura (head) is expected to return to the Brewers' lineup on Tuesday after he was beaned in the head during an at-bat on Sunday, according to MLB.com.
Luckily for the 25 year-old, he only had to miss one game. Segura left Sunday’s matchup against the Chicago Cubs after a fastball by Pedro Strop connected with his helmet. The shortstop is cleared and ready to rejoin the team.
This is huge news for the MLB’s worst team. The Milwaukee Brewers (8-18) could desperately use their shortstop back. Segura is sporting a .289/.324/.381 batting line with one homer and five stolen bases.
"I was just hoping it hit him in the head, not in the face, and that's actually what happened," teammate Aramis Ramirez told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "You never want to see that, even with the opposing team. You don't want to see anyone get hit in the head."
Milwaukee also has a new manager at the helm as Craig Counsell has replaced recently fired Ron Roenicke. In order for the Brew-Crew to get back in the hunt for October, they could surely use Segura. The team even defeated the L.A. Dodgers in Counsell’s managerial debut on Monday.
