Five Corner Infield Waiver Wire Pickups & Adds for Week 14

The last few weeks have seen some high attrition to fantasy rosters, as several stars have landed on the disabled list. Chief among those at the corner infield spots has been Miguel Cabrera, who will miss six weeks with a calf strain. Despite his questionable conditioning, Miggy had gone his entire career without needing a DL stint until last week.

If you need to replace him, or anyone else on the seemingly endless list of injured sluggers, there's help to be found on the waiver wire.

Editor’s Note: To read about even more waiver wire options for first base and third base, be sure to check out our famous waiver wire pickups list which is a running list that is updated daily.

Corner Infield Pickups

Aramis Ramirez, 3B, Milwaukee Brewers (46 percent owned)

It's been a difficult season for Ramirez, who has looked every bit his 37 years of age more often than not. Over the last month, however, he's hitting .304/.343/.533 with four homers and 23 RBI. He's reportedly drawing some trade interest, which could lead to reduced playing time. For the moment, though, Ramirez is worth a roster spot.

Miguel Sano, 3B, Minnesota Twins (44 percent)

Sano has hit safely in every game since his promotion and went yard for the first time last night. The 22 year old has been thrust right into the middle of the Twins' lineup and, to his credit, hasn't looked overmatched. He'll get plenty of RBI opportunities and should be a good source of pop going forward, given the ample power that's always been his calling card. Sano also carries a huge positional bonus in Yahoo leagues since he's shortstop-eligible, despite not playing the position since 2011. It's surprising that he's unowned in the majority of those leagues, but that won't last long if he continues hitting this well.

Luis Valbuena, 3B, Houston Astros (36 percent)

Valbuena is nursing a sprained big toe, but that doesn't appear to be negatively impacting him at the plate. June was actually his best month of the year, as he compiled an .883 OPS with nine homers and 32 R+RBI. Valbuena continues to be a huge BA drain, although he's finally pushed his mark above the Mendoza line. Owners in need of power aren't going to do any better on the wire, though. He's also eligible at second base.

Logan Forsythe, 1B, Tampa Rays (33 percent)

Forsythe has been a pleasant surprise for the Rays and for fantasy owners this year, making solid contributions across the board. For the season, he's slashing .281/.365/.425 with eight homers and seven stolen bases. In addition to his current positional eligibility at first and second base, he needs just two more appearances or one start to gain eligibilty at the hot corner.

Justin Bour, 1B, Miami Marlins (9 percent)

Bour homered in four consecutive games last week, giving him 10 on the year. That tends to draw the attention of fantasy owners, but he's still free in nine out of every 10 leagues. Michael Morse is nearly recovered from his back injury, but Bour's making a strong case to remain in the lineup. Giancarlo Stanton's injury only helps his cause, as Morse can at least theoretically play the outfield and the Marlins need all the power they can get in the lineup. Overall, his line sits at .264/.344/.503.
