Houston Street will likely be ready to pitch for the Anaheim Angels on Saturday, according to The Los Angeles Times.
The Angels closer will throw off a mound on Friday with the hopes to return to the real-game action on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox.
"If all goes well, I should be ready to go on Saturday," Street told The Times. "Knock on wood."
Street suffered a groin injury while pitching on July 8 against the Colorado Rockies. Despite the injury, the right-hander was able to record the save.
Street has been excellent as the closer for the Angels this season. He’s made 24 saves with a 2.27 ERA. The 11-year veteran has provided stability at the back of the bullpen, helping Anaheim to a 48-40 record, and first place in the AL West.
Thanks to some extra help from the All-Star break, Street will likely only miss five games.
