Jacob deGrom was excellent again on the mound for the New York Mets Tuesday when he held the Washington Nationals to two runs for his 10th win of the season.
deGrom (10-6) allowed three hits while striking out 11 en route to the 7-2 victory for the Mets during his first start since the break. The All-Star pitcher raised his ERA a little bit to 2.18 ERA but lowered his WHIP to 0.90 and his K/BB ratio to 120/21 in 119 2/3 innings pitched. The 27-year-old is fourth in the entire MLB in ERA.
The Mets bounced back to even the series at 1-1 with the finale being Wednesday afternoon in D.C. If the Mets win with Noah Syndergaard on the mound, they can pull to within a game of the Nats for first place in the NL East.
The right-hander’s next start will be at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend for the finale of a four-game series.
