A bidding war is about to begin for the Detroit Tigers pitcher David Price, and will include the Yankees, Blue Jays, Dodgers, and possibly others slugging it out for the ace, according to USA Today.
Earlier today, the Tigers confirmed that they would be willing to trade Price as the July 31 trade deadline gets closer, along with other players on the team set to be free agents next year. They are 48-52, 4 1/2 games out of the second Wild Card spot, and would have to hurdle four other teams to get to that spot. The three teams are “poised to have an all-out bidding war once they get the go-ahead,” according to USA Today.

Price, 29, is an unrestricted free agent after the season. And he’s been the best pitcher this year in Detroit. If the Tigers let him go, their hopes of making the postseason for a fifth straight year are unlikely. He is 9-4 with a 2.53 ERA and 138 strikeouts for what is his fifth All-Star season.
Tuesday was one of the worst starts of the season for Price. He went six innings against his former team, the Tampa Bay Rays. He allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks. Prior to that start, he was dominant. The left-hander allowed four runs over 30 innings pitched while striking out 34.
