The Texas Rangers acquired Cole Hamels from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for six players, according The Dallas Morning News.
The players going to Philly are Matt Harrison, Alec Asher, Jerad Eickhoff, Nick Williams, Jorge Alfaro and Nick Williams. It’s a ton of prospects for Hamels but the left-hander is under contract until 2020.
Final deal and it's a doozy: Matt Harrison, Alec Asher, Jerad Eickhoff, Nick Williams, Jorge Alfaro & Jake Thompson for Hamels+Diekman+Cash.

The Rangers are eight games out of first place in the American League West but four games out of the second Wild Card spot despite being four games below .500.
Hamels is 6-7 on the season with a 3.64 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 137/39 K/BB ratio through 128 2/3 innings. He's made three All-Star teams throughout his 10-year career with a career average 3.30 ERA. He’s coming off the first no-hitter of his career against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.
In the span of one move, the Phillies just replenished their farm system while the Rangers have a great tandem at the top of their rotation for the next few years with Hamels and Yu Darvish. Tommy John surgery has caused Darvish to miss the entire 2015 season.
