The Toronto Blue Jays were “closing in” on a deal with the Detroit Tigers for David Price, and now the deal is official, according to CBS Sports. The Tigers will receive Daniel Norris and a few other minor leaguers.
It's a major deal for a Blue Jays team that is desperate for an ace, and Price will fill that role. The 29-year-old left-hander owns a 2.53 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 138/29 K/BB ratio in 146 innings this season in Detroit.

Norris is a highly touted pitching prospect. The 22-year-old left-hander is slowly coming along in the minor leagues. He owns a 4.27 ERA this season in 16 games started, but the future is bright. The second-round draft pick started the 2015 in the Blue Jays rotation, but was demoted to Triple-A after a few starts.
Thus far, Mark Buehrle has been the best starting pitcher in Toronto. The 36-year-old veteran has 3.29 ERA. Other than the left-hander, the Blue Jays don’t have much help in the starting rotation. Price give the team an ace that has been dominant throughout his whole career. He has a career 3.13 ERA while averaging 214 strikeouts per season.
Price’s dominance can help the Blue Jays win games without relying heavily on their offense. They’ve scored 59 more runs than the second highest-scoring team in MLB. They also acquired Troy Tulowitzki on Tuesday, which will only improve the Jays offense even more. They are two games back of the second Wild Card spot in the American League.
