Tigers Looking To Trade Closer Joakim Soria

The Detroit Tigers are looking to trade closer Joakim Soria, according to Fox Sports.

After Detroit traded away David Price to the Toronto Blue Jays, the Tigers are looking to continue to rebuild their farm system. Soria, 31, could be the next to go as the MLB Trade Deadline inches closer and closer.

Soria has 23 saves in 26 chances with a 2.85 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 36/11 K/BB ratio over 41 innings on the season. It’s his first full season as a closer since his All-Star season with the Kansas City Royals in 2010. He’s made two All-Star teams with 201 career saves. He could be a team's closer or be plugged in any role out of the bullpen.

According to Fox Sports, the Tigers are “working to trade” Soria because he will be an unrestricted free agent after the season. They might not get much in return for the right-hander because he would be a rental to whatever team he would be traded to. Either way, it could be a move to add another piece or two to a Tigers team that wants to get younger.
