Colon Pitches Eight Innings Of One-Run Ball In Mets Victory

Bartolo Colon pitched eight innings of one-run ball in a 12-1 victory over the Miami Marlins.

It was a huge bounce-back start for Colon. The 42-year-old allowed seven hits with five strikeouts and no walks on Monday for the New York Mets after allowing six runs in his last start against the Los Angeles Dodgers, when he couldn’t make it out of the third inning. The lone run came in the eighth inning after the game was well in hand.

Colon is now 10-10 on the season and lowered his ERA to 4.72. At this point in the season, the veteran isn’t as counted on with the young starting pitchers in the Mets rotation continuing to succeed. Colon did his job and helped New York take full control of the National League East from the Washington Nationals.

The Mets still have two more games against the 43-63 Marlins until they head into Tampa Bay against the Rays for a three-game series, which is where Colon will pitch next on Sunday.
