A wacky game in Atlanta ended in extra innings when the Braves' Adonis Garcia drilled a walk-off, two-run home run to defeat the San Francisco Giants on Monday.
The walk-off blast came in the 12th inning with the Braves chasing one run after the Giants took the lead at the top of the inning. The Giants blew a two-run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning when A.J. Pierzynski hit a two-run shot with two outs. Garcia’s homer is the highlight of his young, rookie career.
Garcia, 30, went 2-for-6 with a double and the homer on Monday. In 11 MLB games this season, he has nine hits in 40 plate appearances. Six of those nine hits are extra-base hits. The Cuban third baseman is going to get a chance to be the everyday third baseman in Atlanta after the team traded Juan Uribe.
The Braves and Giants will meet again on Tuesday for the second of a three-game series.
