Michael Cuddyer might return from the DL on Saturday, according to The St. Lucie News. The New York Mets outfielder is looking to return from a bone bruise below his left kneecap.
The 36-year-old was scheduled to play in a Gulf Coast League game on Thursday, and then a Florida State League game on Friday, but since he didn’t play on Thursday so his return could be delayed.
“It is what it is. It’s getting better and it’s to the point where I think I can come back now. I feel ready to get in some games and see where we are in that regard,” Cuddyer told reporters, according to The Daily News. “I’ve spent my share of time on the DL and it’s never fun, no question about it − especially when we’re having as much fun as we’re having up in New York right now.
“I’m there and supporting on the bench and cheerleading, but it’s a little different when you’re involved.”
The Mets have won six games in a row, and currently hold a 1 1/2 game lead for first place without Cuddyer in the lineup.
