Clayton Kershaw was dominant on Wednesday when he pitched eight scoreless innings for the 3-0 victory over the Washington Nationals.
Kershaw (10-6) struck out eight on three hits and zero walks for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The lefty lowered his ERA to 2.39 and his WHIP to 0.92 and now owns a 205/30 K/BB ratio over 162 innings pitched.
As the game went on, Kershaw appeared to get better. In the seventh inning, he struck Bryce Harper, Ryan Zimmerman and Jayson Werth in succession. The reigning NL Cy Young winner has two straight shutout victories over the Nationals, which has allowed L.A. to extend its NL west lead to 3 1/2 games.
Zack Greinke might still be the favorite to win the Cy Young in the NL but his Dodgers teammate is right behind him with another stellar performance.
The Nationals will head to San Francisco against the Giants for four-game series while the Dodgers host the Cincinnati Reds for four.
