The Chicago White Sox won a thriller in extra innings over the Anaheim Angels on Wednesday when Avisail Garcia delivered a walk-off hit in the 13th inning.
Garcia finished 1-for-4 with two walks on the night, but his one hit was the difference as he laced a pitch from Cesar Ramos into the left-center gap. Jose Abreu scored all the way from first base. Garcia is hitting .264/.313/.386 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI this season.
The White Sox have climbed back into the race for the second American League Wild Cards spot with the victory over the Angels. It marked the third straight win for Chicago and a three-game series. The Sox are now 4 1/2 games back for a Wild Card spot. Unfortunately for them, they have to jump five other teams, but if they can stay hot, they might be able to sneak in.
Chicago will begin a three-game series at home with cross-town rival Chicago Cubs while the Angels will head into Kansas City against the American League-leading Royals for four games.
