Matt Wieters is expected to be back in the lineup for the Baltimore Orioles after a week out of action because of a hamstring issue, according to MASNsports.com.
The 29-year-old catcher left last Tuesday’s game with a right hamstring strain. He hasn’t played since but was able to run the bases on Monday without any issues.

It’s been an injury-plagued season for Wieters. The three-time All-Star owns a .278 BA with 5 HR and 17 RBI over 46 games this season. When he’s healthy, he’s arguably the best catcher in the American League.
In Wieters’ absence, Caleb Joseph has done a decent job. Joseph has a .255 BA but does have 11 HR and 42 RBI this season in 239 at-bats. When Wieters is healthy, it’s his position to lose, and the Orioles will need him down the final stretch of the season.
Baltimore has won three games in a row and sits four games out of first place in the AL East while holding a half-game lead over the Angels for the second Wild Card spot. The Orioles will be home for a two-game series against the New York Mets.
