Wright (Back) Returns To Mets Lineup, Batting Cleanup

David Wright is back in the New York Mets lineup on Thursday after sitting out during Wednesday’s victory, according to Rotoworld Daily Lineups.

The Mets captain and third baseman will be monitored like this for the rest of the season since he’s finally made his return from spinal stenosis that has kept him out of action since early April. New York still won its fifth game in Wright’s absence.

Wright, 32, returned with a bang on Monday when he drilled a solo homer into the upper deck of Citizens Bank Park against the Philadelphia Phillies. He finished the game 2-for-5 with three runs scored. Wright followed that with a 0-for-4 performance on Tuesday before sitting out Wednesday’s game.

The cleanup spot will be Wright’s again as the Mets go for the four-game sweep over the division-rival Phillies. It will be a game where, if the Washington Nationals lose to the San Diego Padres on Thursday and the Mets win, New York will have a 7 1/2 game lead for the NL East crown.
