Philadelphia Phillies rookie Aaron Nola fired another strong performance on Friday during a 7-1 victory.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Phillies as Nola pitched seven innings of one-run ball on two hits with two walks. The right-hander struck out six San Diego Padres en route to the victory at home.
Nola is now 5-1 on the season with a 3.26 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. The only mistake last night was a homer by Justin Upton.
In his last start, Nola went eight innings without allowing a run. After his one-run performance yesterday, the rookie has made a strong case to remain in the Phillies rotation next season.
The next start for the 22-year-old will be against the New York Mets. He didn’t pitch in any of the games during the week in which the Mets swept Philly.
