White Sox Remove David Robertson From Revocable Trade Waivers After Yankees Claim The Closer

The 2:00 p.m. trade deadline passed on Monday without any deals, including the Chicago White Sox pulling back on David Robertson after the New York Yankees claimed the closer off revocable waivers,, according to CBS Sports.

Since the deal didn’t get done before the deadline, if Robertson were still to end up being a part of a waiver-trade, the right-hander would not be eligible to be on the new team’s postseason roster. The 30-year-old will likely stay with the White Sox for the rest of the season and next year.

It’s been a good season for the former Yankees closer. Robertson saved 39 games with the Yanks in 2014 but has saved 27 with a 2.60 ERA with the White Sox after signing a four-year, $46 million deal to join the team.

The White Sox are seven games back from the second AL Wild Card spot. They’ll unlikely make the postseason this year but they do have a good foundation for a team to compete again next season.
