Arenado (Chest) X-Rays Come Back Negative: Could Be In Lineup Tuesday

Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado left Monday’s game against the San Diego Padres with a chest contusion, according to the Rockies website.

The injury occurred when Arenado attempted to catch a foul ball by diving into the stands. He was unable to make the catch as the 24-year-old All-Star thinks he fell onto an armrest of an empty chair.

"I thought if I dove I would have landed on some people," Arenado joked to the Rockies website. "It would have cushioned my fall."

X-Rays came back negative, which makes it a possibility that Arenado will be back in the lineup Tuesday against Padres in San Diego. The Rockies could take their time with the third-year player because he's one of the players of the future in Colorado. In 133 games this season, he owns a .287/.324/.577 batting line with 36 HR and 106 RBI.

With no more Troy Tulowitzki and the possibility of Carlos Gonzalez not being with the club come the start of next season, the 2016 Rockies could be led by Arenado.
