Nelson Cruz was back in the lineup for the Seattle Mariners on Thursday as they took on the Texas Rangers.
The Mariners had been without their best hitter for the past week because of a strained right quad. Seattle has been playing its best baseball of late, winning six of its last eight games. Either way, having Cruz back in the lineup makes the team that much better as well as helping out fantasy owners for their respective playoff runs.
Cruz batted third and started as the DH for the Mariners. If Seattle was in the race for the postseason, the 35-year-old would be the odds on favorite to win the AL MVP. The sluggers has a .310 BA with 39 HR and 82 RBI.
Derek Holland took the mound for the Rangers as they tried to bounce back from a 6-0 loss to the Mariners on Wednesday. The left-hander has been sensational since returning from injury. He owns a 3-1 record with a 2.37 ERA.
