Josh Hamilton (Knee) Undergoes Surgery: Return Questionable

Josh Hamilton will have to undergo surgery on Friday to cleanup an ailing left knee.

The Texas Rangers outfielder could still return before the end of the season but will miss more time. The 34-year-old has only played in 40 games this season.

The procedure is considered a minor one, which could potentially allow Hamilton to return at the end of the season and help contribute to a team that is hopeful of making the postseason. The knee has been an issue since early August.

The former MVP has been okay while healthy this season for his second stint with the Rangers. The outfielder has a .257 BA with 6 HR and 21 RBI in 40 games. Throughout his career, he owns a .290 BA with 32 HR and 111 RBI over a 162-game span. His worst problem is that he hasn’t been able to stay healthy over the last few seasons.
