Felix Hernandez left Sunday’s start against the Texas Rangers early with stiffness in his right elbow.
The Seattle Mariners aren’t too concerned with the removal of their ace with two outs in the sixth inning. Hernandez had an 8-2 cushion when he left, which made the decision even easier. Seattle went on to win the game 9-2 for the team’s 73rd win of the season.
Felix left the game as a precaution with a stiff elbow. He's expected to make his next start

The elbow is always a tricky injury but the Mariners believe that it isn’t anything serious and Hernandez could potentially make his next scheduled start. Seattle’s season won’t continue in October, which means that the $175 million starting pitcher’s value isn’t necessary for the rest of 2015. It wouldn't be a shocker if he sat out the rest of the year.
The right-hander is 18-9 with a 3.55 ERA this season along with 180 strikeouts. The 29-year-old has 142 wins throughout his 11-year career. He owns a 3.12 career ERA along with 218 strikeouts per season. It hasn’t been Hernandez’s best season but he’s still one of the top pitchers in the American League.
