Hanley Ramirez will not play in another game during the 2015 season because the Boston Red Sox have decided to rest the outfielder as he deals with a shoulder injury.
It’s been another partial season for the former the three-time All-Star. Ramirez only played in 105 games this year due to various injuries throughout the year. The 31-year-old finished with a .249 BA, 19 HR, and 53 RBI during his first season with the Red Sox.
Hanley shut down for season, according to Lovullo, who said shoulder not responding. Will not continue first base work either

The plan was to move the outfielder to first base when Ramirez was healthy. Instead, the Red Sox will have to wait until next season for the transition. He’ll have a whole offseason to get used to his fourth position after also playing shortstop and third base for the majority of his career.
“Unfortunately, his shoulder was just not responding the way we wanted it to,” Red Sox interim manager Torey Lovullo told The Boston Globe. “His effort, his focus, his interest in playing first base never, ever waned. It was just a matter of his right shoulder not responding to what he was asking it to do.”
