Fox Sports columnist Mike Garafolo has reported that Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray will be inactive today against the New York Jets. According to reports, Murray's hamstring did not react well to testing this morning. This is the sort of potentially lingering injury that could make Murray's owners nervous for the next couple weeks.
In his place, Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles will see increased roles, but Chip Kelly will likely lean on Sam Bradford and Jordan Matthews to move the ball down the field. For fantasy purposes, Mathews is the most obvious play for those who handcuffed him to Murray. However, his carry total likely won't rise above 12-15. With the Eagles' atrocious offensive line play thus far combined with the fierce run defense of the Jets, both Mathews and Sproles will be risky fantasy plays in season-long leagues. Mathews' and Sproles' low cost in most daily fantasy formats might make them worth flex consideration if you're looking to save money to spend on surer bets like Antonio Brown and Julio Jones.
