Angels closer Huston Street has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 groin strain and will miss at least the rest of the regular season.
If the Angels can sneak into the postseason, there’s a chance Street could be back with the club. It would all depend on how far the team makes it. Manager Mike Scioscia said the team will go with a closer-by-committee the rest of the way.

In the meantime, Joe Smith has been dealing with some nagging issues. The Angels have already lost their closer, and now their setup man is banged up. That's going to make it difficult to overcome a half-game deficit for the second AL Wild Card spot.
The Angels have won three games in a row while the Astros have lost three straight. A few days after being four games out, the Angels have a legitimate chance to make it to October baseball.
