Ram Down: LB Alec Ogletree Out for the Long Haul

This season has been an up-and-down affair for Rams’ fans. From threats of moving the team to Los Angeles to beating the Seattle Seahawks on opening day, they’ve seen more than their fair share of drama.

Today, continuing along with same undulating trend of emotional highs and lows, anyone and everyone involved with the Midwest franchise received troubling news involving linebacker Alec Ogletree. What was once thought to be little more than a mere ankle injury was recently confirmed to be a broken leg. Ogeltree underwent surgery earlier today.

While many of the specifics are unknown, there’s a real possibility Ogletree’s season might be over. Early reports suggest he will miss at least eight weeks, which would put him on schedule for a December return.

Much to the pleasure of fantasy owners, Ogletree had started his third year in the NFL with a great deal of on-field success. In fact, he was even on pace to record his third 100-tackle season in a row. That said, with Ogletree on the sidelines, it’s now a next-man-up sort of situation in St. Louis with the Rams traveling to Green Bay to take on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers on Sunday.

The responsibility of playing weak-side linebacker now falls squarely on the shoulders of Akeem Ayers.
