If there has ever been proof that turning the ball over can result in your team losing games, look no further than Tampa Bay Buccaneers' rookie quarterback Jameis Winston. While Winston has had a wild, up-and-down start to his NFL career, one thing that's remained consistent is the turnover. Through five weeks, Winston has thrown seven touchdowns against seven interceptions, while also losing one fumble.
While early mistakes have often put the Buccaneers behind the eight ball this season, we finally saw Winston play poised and intelligent football throughout an entire game on Sunday. The former Florida State star completed 13-of-19 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown, leading Tampa Bay to their second win of 2015, a 38-31 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
While the Tampa Bay defense is obviously a bit of a concern (they gave up 303 passing yards and four touchdowns to Blake Bortles) there's one very positive thing to take away from this victory. In his fifth game as the starter, Winston finally has an NFL game under his belt where he didn't turn the ball over. He also put together his best game yet, as he posted a quarterback rating of 122.5 and completed 68.4 percent of his passes.
