Wide Receivers Waiver Wire: Week 6 Pickups & Adds

It's time to talk waiver wire for Week 6 of the 2015 NFL season. Fortunately, there's once again more than a few great wide receiver options. We'll be taking a look at a combination of new players to make the waiver wire list, as well as one or two who were recommended last week, but are once again receiving the nod as we head into Week 6 of the season.

This week, we have the Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers all staring at a bye week. While Dez Bryant has already been out for the Cowboys, and you've likely already filled in the hole in your roster somehow, you'll still be filling in for the likes of Amari Cooper, Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson.

There's a few intriguing options, so let's jump right into it with the top waiver wide additions at the wide receiver position heading into Week 6. Here's to hoping that you're sitting at 2-3 or better going into the new week.

Week 6 Waiver Wire - Wide Receivers (WR)

Allen Hurns - WR, JAX - 55% owned on Fleaflicker

Fortunately, while Hurns was on this list last week, you'll likely get another chance to snatch up the talented Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver this week. Hurns went from being owned in just 17 percent of leagues heading into Week 5, to a whopping 55 percent this week. Even with that said, if one of Blake Bortles' favorite targets is still available in your league, it's time to jump on him.

Just a week after catching 11 balls for 116 yards and a touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts, Hurns showed us all his home run-hitting ability in Week 5. Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Hurns caught five balls for 116 yards and a touchdown, averaging 23.2 yards per reception.

To put it simply, Hurns is playing at a ridiculously high level right now, while his quarterback, Bortles, is also playing with a ton of confidence after throwing four touchdowns in the 38-31 loss to Tampa Bay. Hurns has a mediocre matchup against the Houston Texans in Week 6, but follows that up with a juicy spot against the Buffalo Bills, who have allowed 69 receptions for 772 yards and seven touchdowns through five games.

Cecil Shorts III - WR, HOU - 7% owned on Fleaflicker

While Shorts missed the Week 5 loss to the Indianapolis Colts with a dislocated shoulder, Adam Caplan of ESPN reported that he could be back in action as early as Week 6 against the Jaguars:

Shorts received a quick nod from me last week, as he was 9 percent owned at that point. Obviously, the injury has caused some owners to drop Shorts. What makes Houston's true No. 2 wide receiver even more of an interesting waiver wire target, is the fact that Houston obviously missed him during their loss to the Colts.

After an impressive 11 receptions from DeAndre Hopkins, the next leading receiver for the team was running back Arian Foster, who caught nine passes. After that came Jaelen Strong with two catches, one of which was that incredible hail mary, and then Keith Mumphery who caught four balls for just 23 yards. The Texans need Shorts back in the lineup, which is great news for fantasy owners looking for a bye week filler.

Marquess Wilson - WR, CHI - 7% owned on Fleaflicker

The Chicago Bears have officially won two games in a row. How incredible is that? Just one week after a 26-0 routing, which led to the team essentially putting their entire roster on the block, they've bounced back by defeating the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs. One of the offensive leaders for the Bears over those two games? None other than Wilson himself.

The third-year receiver from Washington State has caught 12 balls for 165 yards and a touchdown over the past two weeks, putting himself on fantasy radars all over the place.  With both Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal ruled out for the Week 5 game against the Chiefs, it was Wilson who paced Chicago's offense.

Even before last week, when the Bears were just without Jeffery, Wilson tallied the second-most yards in Week 4 with 80, just three behind tight end Martellus Bennett. The best part about Wilson, with all due respect to the Bears, is that they'll likely be playing from behind quite a bit moving forward in 2015, which only benefits his fantasy value.

Other Wide Receivers To Consider Adding

Marvin Jones, WR, CIN - 36% owned on Fleaflicker

We touched on how poor the Bills have been against the pass to this point in 2015. Fortunately, Jones and the Bengals draw the Bills in Week 6. Doesn't get much better than that for Jones and the Bengal listed just below him on this list.

As for the play of Jones himself, well, he laid a bit of an egg in Week 4, catching just one pass for four yards. In the two weeks before that? Seven catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Then, when evaluating Week 5, he had another solid showing, catching five balls for 61 yards. We'll give Jones the benefit of the doubt here and say that the Week 4 showing was just an off night for the young receiver.

Mohamed Sanu, WR, CIN - 48% owned on Fleaflicker

We're just rolling out the Cincinnati wide receivers. With how well Andy Dalton has been playing, why wouldn't we? Sanu finally seems to have gotten the ball rolling a bit after a slow start to the season. Through the first three weeks, Sanu caught just five balls for 77 yards, but had a huge two-week stretch following that. Between Week 4 and 5, Sanu caught nine balls for 153 yards, showing that he may be getting some additional work in the passing game moving forward.
