Encarnacion (Finger) Day-To-Day With Strained Ligament

Edwin Encarnacion strained the ligament in his left  middle finger during Friday’s Game 1 of the ALCS.

The Toronto Blue Jays DH was pinch-hit for in the eighth inning because he wasn't able to swing a bat due to the pain. Encarnacion received X-rays, which fortunately came back negative for the slugger. The 32-year-old is listed as day-to-day for now. He’s a question mark for being in the Jays lineup for a pivotal Game 2 Saturday afternoon.

Toronto is down 1-0 in the series after being shutout 5-0 on Friday. It would be a surprise if Encarnacion doesn’t play through the pain and deal with the issue during the off-season. He finished Game 1 with an 0-for-3 performance.

Edinson Volquez delivered six shutout innings after allowing three runs during his first postseason start in the ALDS. The right-hander allowed only two hits although he walked four batters. He did his part while the bullpen did what it does best and finish off the game for the Royals.
