BALLER MOVE: Add for Blocks or Rebounds
OWNED: 20% of Yahoo! Leagues
ANALYSIS:This is more of a situational pick up. If you are thin in the Forward/ Center department I would definitely suggest taking a look at John Henson.
Although last year his minutes were extremely inconsistent, the Bucks signed him to a lucrative contract this summer and gave us 44 million reasons why he’ll be playing more this year.
Henson is really the only true rim protection the Bucks have, so expect him to see closer to 25 minutes a game, and could push closer to 30 if Jabari Parker is having an off night. Speaking of rim protection, did you know Henson was the only player to average two blocks or more a game while playing under 20 minutes? Neither did I until I just looked it up. That should be a clear sign of things to come if Henson gets the minutes he deserves.
In addition to blocks, Henson will certainly help you in the rebounds, averaging almost five in 18 minutes per game last year. Unfortunately, he isn’t very good at actually putting the basketball in the hoop, both from the field and the free throw line. Henson does shoot a pretty good FG%, however, he most likely won’t crack ten points a game this year. He is Andre Drummond bad from the free throw line (39% last year), but he only takes a few a game so that shouldn’t really affect your team average.
Basically if you can withstand the low point totals and need some blocks and rebounds, Henson should be given a consideration, especially given the scarcity of blocks on the waiver wire throughout the year.
