BALLER MOVE: Add in all leagues
OWNED: 46% of Yahoo! Leagues
ANALYSIS: Pretty surprised Marvin Williams is owned in less than half of Yahoo leagues. After losing Michael Kidd-Gilchrist for the season, Marvin Williams has been forced into a much larger role on both sides of the ball in Charlotte. Unless Frank Kaminsky or Cody Zeller drastically improve as the season progresses, Williams will continue to start and play over 30 minutes a game.
Marvin Williams has proven early that he is a perfect fit in the small ball lineup Coach Steve Clifford prefers to play regularly. And unlike Frank Kaminksy and Cody Zeller, Williams can switch and successfully guard perimeter players, which will only further cement his importance to the Hornets.
He has been a little streaky from three point range, but he has shown he has the green light launching over five in every game so far this season. Unlike the other options on the waiver wire for help in 3PM, Williams will consistently help in rebounds, averaging nine per game this season, and even gets a few blocks every week.
On top of all that, Steve Clifford is the coach of the Hornets. That guy can flat out coach and I’m partial to guys that play for coaches like him. Marvin Williams has a very specific skill set, especially on offense, and I’m very confident Coach Clifford will get the most out of him night to night.
Bottom Line: As long as Marvin Williams continues to start and get over 30 minutes a game, he should be rostered in all leagues. He helps in enough categories that it doesn’t really matter what you need help with--just go add him.
